My spiritual name is Ajeet Amrita Kaur, in a sentence it translates to: the sacred princess/lioness who is victorius over all challenges as she experiences the nectar of God’s divine grace.
Or, broken down it can be translated as:
Ajeet – one who is victorious or who overcomes obstacles
Amrita – one who is full with the nectar of God’s grace or the sweetness of God’s touch opening the heart.
Kaur- is a name given to all females and means the princess/lioness of God who walks with grace and strength through life.
I was told by a friend that it’s best to get your spiritual name on a special day, so I waited for a while and nothing ‘special’ was coming up. At the end of August 2016 I went to a free festival in Oxford called Peace in the park and ordered some Sesame self massage oil (both things I’d been waiting all month for). The morning after the festival I felt uplifted from the festival and happy my oil was on it’s way that I thought – hey this is a pretty special moment and went with it.
Spiritual names are ordered through the 3ho website, now the thing to know here (and another reason I waited) is that they cost $35 or $50 with a personalised name card, there was a free option however it said a 3-5 week wait, whereas the paid version was quicker.
Since getting my name so far I’ve only printed off the email and put it in a frame, I made myself an instagram account @ajeetamritakaur.
I think my name really suits me as I am overcoming obstacles to meet goals in my life. Amrita seems like a really special part of my name as it’s meaning is ‘immortality’ and ‘nectar’ and I am opening up to a higher version of myself, opening my heart more to God’s grace. A great way to describe my destiny on this planet! The term Kaur princess/lioness is important as it is defiant and empowering, giving as sense of being your own heroine.
I’m not sure how/where I’m going to use my new name (this isn’t called my Kundalini journey for nothing). Do I use it in yoga class? At events? In everyday life? There’s a contradiction to of the purpose being to reduce identities not create more or have a work self and yoga self. We are already whole radiant beings!
I feel a sense of happiness each time I think of someone calling me my spiritual name, sort of like I feel truly myself when I meditate and cover my head and recognise the people that accept me as I am, calling me Ajeet Amrita is a loving act in itself.
