Vaisakhi and Chardi Kala in Covid19
March 23, 2020

The Coronavirus is widely spread now and people are self-isolating (including me, I’m an introvert though I love being in nature and our daughter too has been laying under trees since 4 months old). I’m adapting and trying not to rebel every breaking news bulletin that comes up.

Something I had on my to-do list before April was to make a workbook around Vaisakhi, an occasion where Sikhs gather in large crowds to mark the day the first Khalsa, the first initiated Sikhs came to be. I told our Nephew of it and didn’t do much else until Covid 19 happened and well, I think it’s perfect timing! That goes for other things that seemed to have been divinely timed.

This is a 6-page colouring book exploring the names of the Panj Pyare (the first Khalsa), their names have meanings that we can all include in life and when it comes to Sikhi, keep it simple and practical.

The workbooks are for children (primary school age) if they can read and write well, allow them to crack on with it! If they’re younger then go through it with them, ask questions and write the answers in the spaces on the sheet. If you or your child insists that you too as an adult can fill in a workbook then print another one and join in!

I’ve left it blank for children to colour it in, save on ink and share this out in the lead up to Vaisakhi time!

I also made a Chardi Kala poster, that older children or adults can colour in or print out to put up on the fridge straight away!
